There needs to be some name for this awful culture of young kids that are into shit like that, and listen to boring indie acting like it’s something special. And who think Juno & Napoleon Dynamite are amazing. Who post pictures of themselves on MetroNorth going to The Strokes concert ‘downtown.’ Eat shit. The idiots that say “so… yeah” the second a conversation stops. And who read classic literature just to run their mouths about it. Man what are they called? They like American Apparel a lot and they all “know how to use PhotoShop.” Basically victims of the commercial “indie” tidal wave. No artistic ability or inclination needed! It’s easy - anyone can do it!

This makes me feel bad for this kid, but mostly just for our generation. There is already a name for that concept, but it isn’t something worth talking about unless you feel bad or are uncomfortable with yourself. “Hipster”. It is a word that people who either don’t understand what it means to exist in our current state or are uncomfortable doing so say. Sure, lots of things in our world suck, but we are close to making them better. There is an awful mainstream which some people like and some don’t. Most people suck. We need to stop dwelling on how much people around us suck, and just keep working on making things better. It’s too easy to just say “too many people have photoshop”. It is a necessary tool in our current state. One result is that it makes bad artist better. The result?  Higher standards. Now the great artists are ones who are truly innovative. I loved Napoleon Dynamite, I walked out of Juno in the first 20 minutes. It’s a matter of taste, not of anything else. Juno was an obvious attempt to hit a G-spot in the Vaginal Demographic marketing firms see within our age range. If that demographic is the one Chuck is referring to, than you see where we get with summing up groups.

JUNO IS FOR GEN Xers.   It was ghostwritten by Jeanneane Garrafalo’s inner-teen.  I KNOW HOW TO USE PHOTOSHOP.  I AM GOING TO APPLY TO THE NEW SCHOOL.  THAT’S WHERE THEY FILM PROJECT RUNWAY, SO I THINK IT’S PROBABLY REALLY COOL THERE.  MY DREAM JOB IS GETTING A JOB USING AFTER EFFECTS AND DESIGNING THE THINGIES INBETWEEN SHOWS ON MTV WHERE LINES GO EVERYWHERE AND TURN INTO FUNKY TYPEFACES.  HAVE YOU SEEN THE WES ANDERSON ITUNES MOVIE?

people download, but don’t read. They download to have the impression to own something that one day they’re going to read. But when people really want to read, they go buy the books
